We are a homeschool co-op located in Lamesa, Texas. We are a group of several families who have come together to offer our students a social and educational experience, as well as a support group for other moms/families who have chosen to homeschool.
So you may be wondering: What is a homeschool co-op? or What can I expect from a homeschool co-op?
As with any organized group, structure and rules vary from group to group. In general, however, homeschool co-ops are groups of families who join together to enrich their homeschooling experience by learning from and with one another. Often these groups will participate in field trips, sports, classes, etc.
Our co-op is designed to enhance our homeschool experiences, by providing our kids with educational and social activities, and other positive things they may be missing from a public school setting. Our moms enjoy meeting as well, and we are a great support system for each other. We share ideas on curriculum and activities we each use or recommend for this age or that grade, etc. There is so much information out there it is hard to know what to use, so it is great to actually hear firsthand about homeschooling products and ideas. Our kids also have fun getting to play and learn with their friends, and they also get to do activities that may be harder to do with just a kid or two at home. We are dedicated to make sure our kids know how to act individually and as a group on field trips. We include activities and programs and presentations that help them with public speaking, showing class exhibits, and other enrichment opportunities.
Each session is a different class. Each mom is assigned a class to teach or help in other ways during each session. We find ways to use each mom’s unique talents and interests. We have had a variety of classes for all ages; and are always open to suggestions. We meet together each year to discuss what opportunities we are looking for and can bring together.
We all love our homeschool co-op! There is so much we can learn from one another!
If you are currently homeschooling, thinking about it, or are a pro, it does not matter. All are welcome to apply and join us. We only want the best for our co-op and each other.
Mission Statement:
We are a non-profit and non-denominational group of parents. Our goal is to work together, support each other, and join in a cooperative effort to provide quality education while teaching Godly character to our children. Our purpose is to provide supplemental educational support and group activities for our children, complementing the home educator’s curriculum with social and academic classes that enhance our children’s studies in a Christian environment.
